Run-off in the Jackson Hole Valley is pretty much all but done with more rivers and streams coming into shape every day. Currently the release from Jackson Lake Dam is 2010 cfs. The recent weather has been more like typical June conditions, but the forecast is for us to return to higher-than-normal temperatures.

The valley’s standard summer flies should be in your selection.
DRYFLIES...
Expect the regular fare of Foam, Big Attractors in sizes 8-12, Up-Right Wing patterns in 14’s and 16’s.
NYMPHS...
Rubberlegs 8-12, the 3-Kings, Hare’s Ear, Pheasant Tail, and Prince Nymphs in size 12-16.
Jig Nymphs have really come on strong in the last couple of years. For us Spanish Bullets, Rosa’s Tag Jig, Rio’s French Dip have become go-to Jigs.
STREAMERS...
Coffey’s Sparkle Minnow, Rusty Trombone, Mini Dungeon’s, in black, olive, and natural.
And always the venerable JJ Special.
Area lakes continue to fish well with leech patterns and Wooley Buggers. Also, might sound a little crazy, but try dragging a WaterWalker across Jenny or Phelps Lake. With more and more local waters clearing and dropping, fishing will get better and more consistent.
Most of the Yellowstone area rivers are fishing well with several exceptions. In Yellowstone National Park proper, the Firehole, Gibbon, and Madison River are under Hoot Owl Restriction. They are closed to fishing from 2pm until sunrise the next morning.
As always, for up to the minute fishing conditions throughout the Yellowstone area, (northwest Wyoming, southeast Idaho, southwest Montana), don’t hesitate to contact us at 307 733-3270.
Until next time, good fishing!
